What is The Corvallis Kiwanis Foundation?

It is a non-profit foundation, incorporated (July 31, 1973) under the laws of the State of Oregon and approved by Kiwanis International and the members of the two Corvallis-area Kiwanis clubs: the Kiwanis Club of Corvallis and the Kiwanis Club of Corvallis Sunrisers. It contributes approximately $9,000 a year to organizations that benefit our community.

The major purposes of the foundation are: 

  • To assist all persons to have successful, enriched and meaningful lives; 

  • To assist young people in attaining vocational and scholastic excellence;

  • To assist individuals with disabilities in achieving meaningful work, independence, integration and inclusion;

  • To assist other deserving individuals and organizations in charitable, educational, scientific research and other humanitarian purposes with financial and/or other means of assistance;

  • To support and encourage projects and programs which will, in the judgment of the Officers and the Board of Directors of the foundation, improve the quality of life in the greater Corvallis area.

Donations:

The Corvallis Kiwanis Foundation is a 501(c)(3) corporation. Donations made to the Foundation qualify as charitable contributions according to both State and Federal requirements. The Foundation advises each donor to check with his or her personal advisors, accountant, and/or lawyer with respect to the impact your donation will have on your personal situation. Testamentary Gifts:

The Corvallis Kiwanis Foundation is eligible to receive tax-exempt gifts by will or codicil. Individuals wishing to make such gifts are advised to check with their personal advisors, accountant, and/or lawyer to determine the impact your gifts by will or codicil will have on your personal situation. Administration of the Foundation:

All donations and gifts will be administered by the Board of Directors of the Foundation in harmony with the stated purposes in accordance with the by-laws of the Foundation. All donated funds are invested and up to five percent of the assets are distributed each year, thus ensuring that funds will always be available to support and encourage worthwhile local projects and programs. Our annual overhead is less than one percent, and we have no paid staff.

Application for Funding:

Send applications to the Foundation Secretary.

The Corvallis Kiwanis Foundation invites applications for funding. Due to IRS regulations, the Foundation can grant money only to 501 (c)(3) non-profit entities. The foundation is relatively small so most gifts are for a modest amount. Funding requests are done once a year and the closing date for all funding requests is December 1st of each year.
